Uni Hohenheim goes Agroforscht: Agroforstwirtschaft und Böden

Letzten Dienstag, den 09.01.2024, durften wir mit unserer vierten Veranstaltung der Reihe »Uni Hohenheim goes Agroforscht« ins neue Jahr starten. Das Thema Agroforstwirtschaft und Böden war Leitfaden für den Abend und begleitete und durch spannende Vorträge dreier Expert:innen. Zu Beginn präsentierte Dr. Sven Marhan, von der Universität Hohenheim, das Projekt HUMAX: Potenziale von Agroforst- und Agri-PV-Systemen für die Maximierung von Humusaufbau und Kohlenstoffspeicherung auf landwirtschaftlichen Flächen und gab uns im Rahmen dessen einen kurzen Einblick in sein Herzensthema – den Regenwürmern. Sich der Faszination über die helfenden Bodenorganismen anschließend, bereicherte uns Anna Vaupel, vom Julius Kühn-Institut für ökologische Chemie, Pflanzenanalytik und Vorratsschutz, über das Projekt SIGNAL und »Auswirkungen von Baumbeständen und Baumarten auf die Bodenbiota in einem gemäßigten Agroforstsystem« und erzählte ebenso leidenschaftlich über »Regenwurm- und mikrobielle Bodengemeinschaften in Blühstreifenmischungen«. Abschließend durften alle Interessierten gespannt zuhören als Eva-Maria Minarsch von der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen über Das Projekt »Agrofrost Gladbacherhof« u.a. über standardisierte Monitoring-Methoden und Mykorrhiza erzählte, einem Lehr- und Versuchsbetrieb der Universität, auf dem Agroforstsysteme u.a. zur Minderung der Erosionsgefahr landwirtschaftlicher Flächen angelegt werden. Nach einer angeregten Frage-und Diskussionsrunde sind wir gespannt auf den kommenden »Uni Hohenheim goes Agroforscht« Abend.

Last Tuesday, 09.01.2024, we kicked off the new year with our fourth event in the "Uni Hohenheim goes Agroforscht" series. The topic of agroforestry and soils was the guiding theme for the evening and was accompanied by exciting presentations by three experts. To begin with, Dr. Sven Marhan from the University of Hohenheim presented the HUMAX project: Potentials of agroforestry and agri-PV systems for maximizing humus build-up and carbon storage on agricultural land and, as part of this, gave us a brief insight into the topic close to his heart - earthworms. Afterwards, Anna Vaupel, from the Julius Kühn Institute for Ecological Chemistry, Plant Analysis and Stockpile Protection, fascinated us about the SIGNAL project and "Effects of tree stands and tree species on the soil biota in a temperate agroforestry system" and spoke just as passionately about "Earthworm and microbial soil communities in flower strip mixtures". Finally, all those interested listened intently as Eva-Maria Minarsch from the Justus Liebig University of Giessen talked about the "Agrofrost Gladbacherhof" project, including standardized monitoring methods and mycorrhiza, a teaching and experimental farm at the university where agroforestry systems are created to reduce the risk of erosion on agricultural land, among other things. After a lively round of questions and discussion, we are looking forward to the next "Uni Hohenheim goes Agroforscht" evening.
