Carolin Callenius

Carolin Callenius is Executive Director of the Hohenheim Research Center for Global Food Security and Ecosystems (GFE). The main tasks of the GFE are to promote and support collaborative research projects on global food and nutrition security within the planetary boundaries. The center promotes and supports international research cooperation, inter- and transdisciplinary research, and science-policy-interface. She has extensive experience in the area of sustainable development policies and development cooperation as well as in facilitating inter- and transdisciplinary work in topics related to sustainable agriculture, food systems and food governance. She serves in the board of directors of Agrinatura, a network of European universities and research organizations on agricultural research for development. She is member of the Think Tank of the EU project Fit4Food2030 and leads a task in the EU Project LEAP4FNSSA. Before joining the GFE, Carolin Callenius worked for 25 years with faith based development organizations in Germany as Senior Policy Advisor. She holds a M.Sc. degree in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Hohenheim, with the focus on rural socio-economics and agriculture in the tropics and subtropics.
