Official Statement:

After years of dedicated research, collaboration, and innovation, the Hohenheim Research Center for Global Food Security and Ecosystems (GFE) has officially concluded its activities.

Since its inception, GFE has fostered interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, bringing together scientists, practitioners, and stakeholders to address the complex challenges of global food security and environmental sustainability. Our mission was to advance innovative research at the intersection of agriculture, nutrition, and ecosystems — and we are proud of the progress we’ve made in this vital field.

Through joint project development, knowledge exchange, and strong partnerships, GFE contributed to transforming food systems and promoting ecosystem resilience. We facilitated cross-sector dialogue, supported the development of sustainable solutions, and championed inclusive collaboration across academic and non-academic communities.

While the center itself is closing, the work continues. The ongoing projects will carry forward the spirit and impact of GFE. We invite you to stay connected and follow the important work being done through these networks:

We extend our sincere gratitude to all researchers, collaborators, funders, and community partners who have supported and walked alongside us on this journey.

Thank you
The GFE Team
