Dr. Khadijeh Yasaminshirazi
Khadijeh (Sara) Yasaminshirazi joined the Hohenheim Research Center for Food Security and Ecosystems (GFE) as a project officer in 2023. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart, Germany), Department of Agronomy. Her research was mainly focused on the agronomic, compositional, and sensory evaluation of organically grown vegetables. Following her doctorate degree, she continued working at the same department as a post-doc for two projects dealing with "enhancing biodiversity in agriculture by integrating late-flowering crops into local crop rotations" and "regional cultivation and processing of different protein-rich crops to promote a future-oriented diet." Sara's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology from Shiraz University (Iran) and a Master's in Organic Agriculture and Food Systems from the University of Hohenheim.
At the GFE, Sara's function is mainly the management tasks in the EU-funded trans4num (Transformation for sustainable nutrient supply and management) project. trans4num brings together experience, expertise, and knowledge across different fields, technologies, and disciplines from 22 partners in Europe and China. It focuses on evaluating nutrient management techniques such as bio-based fertilizers, sustainable crop rotations, and optimization of nutrient flows. Further, it targets to develop and implement a social-ecological transformation approach with multiple stakeholder participation at the farm, landscape, and food system level by testing 20 nature-based solutions in seven regions with intensive farming systems.
