MACAUBA Congress 2024

1st International Congress and 2nd Brazilian Congress of Macaúba

23.-25.10.2024, Brazil

The 1st International Macauba Congress took place at the IAC Instituto Agronômico de Campinas in Brazil, bringing together hundreds of students, researchers, scientists, industry partners, and speakers. The event featured engaging discussions, workshops, product demonstrations, and keynote presentations highlighting the latest scientific and industrial advancements in the macauba value chain. This international edition also marked the 2nd National Macauba Congress, held a decade after the inaugural event in Patos de Minas in 2013.

Over three days, representatives from the GFE-AcroAlliance team actively participated in the event. A collaborative stand, co-hosted with the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), showcased macauba's potential, offering attendees an up-close look at the palm, its processed components, and oil samples.

A significant highlight of the congress was the launch of a cutting-edge book on macauba, with authors Dr. Thomas Hilger (University of Hohenheim) and Dr. Sérgio Motoike (UFV) sharing insights into their publication, which aims to advance research and innovation in the field.

The event also included a vibrant poster session featuring over 100 research presentations by students and scientists worldwide. Additionally, experts from the University of Hohenheim, including Dr. Thomas Hilger, Ricardo Vargas-Carpintero, and Prof. Iris Lewandowski, contributed to panel discussions and delivered both in-person and online keynote addresses.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the organizing committee for delivering a highly successful and inspiring congress. The event marks an exciting milestone for the macauba community, and we eagerly anticipate future developments in this promising field.
