The Food Security Center invites you to the virtual World Food Day Colloquium 2020 “Future Agricultural and Food Systems: Ensuring Food Security During Crises” on Friday, October 16th, 2020 at 13:30 (CET).

In times when the food security of millions of persons is being threatened by the covid-19 pandemic, the desert locust crisis, climate change effects, and other crises, searching for new opportunities in our agri-food sector is crucial for ensuring food security.

This year, the World Food Day Colloquium, organized by the Food Security Center in collaboration with the Hans-Ruthenberg-Institute, will address the challenges and opportunities in our agricultural and food systems, answering questions on how different crises affect food security, how they evolve the industry and what is to be done to ensure a fully sustainable food value-chain throughout difficult times.

Through a Young Investigators panel discussion, the World Food Day Colloquium will also offer a unique opportunity for young scientists to give insights into their research, opening up the dialogue on new perspectives related to food security.

Since 2011, the World Food Day Colloquium (WFDC) has been held annually on October 16 at the University of Hohenheim. The WFDC has been well established in the academic, political and societal environment at national and international levels, gathering scientists and experts in various disciplines to share most recent research results and discuss effective solutions contributing to the achievement of SDG 2 zero hunger.
